Heads and representatives of well-known commercial banks also participated in the meeting. The briefing informed that State Bank is working on three main pillars to increase credit delivery to priority sectors, which include improvement of regulations, risk and cost sharing between government and banks and promotion of digital facilities. In this regard, the SME Connect digital portal for SMEs (smeconnect. sbp. org. pk) has recently been launched, through which entrepreneurs can apply for loans and track the progress of their applications. The meeting was told in the briefing that significant progress has been made by the State Bank of Pakistan for the provision of loans to housing, agriculture and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on a priority basis. Till October 23, 2026, 86 thousand 899 loans worth 511 billion rupees have been approved under the Prime Minister's Apna Ghar program. Loans worth 91 billion rupees have been issued to 15 thousand 584 applicants. In the housing finance sector, the total volume of loans is 455 billion rupees and the number of benefited borrowers has increased to 187 thousand 317.
